AFORAS
The Automated Floodway Optimizer for HEC-RAS (AFORAS) is a new tool that combines a one-dimensional HEC-RAS floodway model with a heuristic algorithm to optimize the footprint of the floodway or encroachment limits in the HEC-RAS model. A publication about this floodway optimization method was published in the Water journal and is freely available at https://doi.org/10.3390/w10101420.

Dr. Tien M. Yee is an associate professor in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at Kennesaw State University.
Dr. Huidae Cho is an assistant professor of Geospatial Science and Computing in the Institute for Environmental and Spatial Analysis at the University of North Georgia.
